WOW
Warehouse on Wheels, the largest independent storage trailer rental network in North America, launched WOW, which measures U.S. logistics and warehousing activity. The WOW Supply Chain Activity Index blends its own real trailer-deployment data with eight public benchmarks to provide a single monthly U.S. indicator. Its purpose is “to help shippers, carriers, logistics providers, and industry stakeholders better understand market conditions and identify emerging shifts in the freight cycle.”
The other eight are public benchmarks include:
- LMI Warehousing Utilization
- LMI Transportation Prices
- Cass Freight Index (Shipments)
- ISM Manufacturing PMI
- ISM Supplier Deliveries
- the manufacturers’ inventories-to-sales ratio
- NY Fed Global Supply Chain Pressure Index
- U.S. industrial vacancy rate (inverted)
The July 2026 indicator was 42.2. The score can range from from 0 to 100, with 50 indicating long-run neutral. “A low-40s market looks like this: lower freight rates, ample warehouse capacity, and limited pricing power across the trucking and storage sectors. Every one of those conditions works against capacity providers and in favor of shippers. If you’re buying transportation or storage right now, the market is on your side.”
Colography Supply Chain Competitiveness Index
In June, the Colography Supply Chain Competitiveness Index (CSCCI) was launched. It measures and ranks the structural competitiveness of every U.S. state for supply chain and parcel logistics. It combines proprietary parcel market intelligence with infrastructure and economic data, to indicate where supply chain advantages exist.
Every state is evaluated across ten dimensions, such as distribution power, network resiliency, business density, infrastructure and cost-to-serve, to name a few. “Unlike traditional rankings that focus primarily on freight or package volume, the CSCCI evaluates the underlying characteristics that enable long-term logistics success.”
