Refinitiv announced that its ESG company scores are now available for free and ESG data can now be accessed through the Refinitiv ESG Voice App.
The scores are available on Refinitiv’s public website and are based on publicly disclosed data of over 10,000 companies. At the site, you simply type in the company name and the score is provided.
According to the press release:
The Refinitiv ESG Company Scores are designed to transparently and objectively measure a company’s relative ESG performance, commitment and effectiveness across 10 main themes…The scores are derived from Refinitiv’s database of 450+ company-level ESG measures, of which a subset of 186 of the most comparable and material data points power the overall company assessment and scoring process. The underlying measures are based on considerations around comparability, impact, data availability and industry relevance that varies across each industry group.
In addition to providing the score, which is out of 100, you can also get a comparison and rank, which is the rank of the company out of all the companies in its industry. So for example, when searching MGM Resorts International, it receives an ESG score of 62 (out of 100) and a comparison and rank of 52/264.
The Refinitiv ESG Voice App is a new application that allows you to use Alexa or Google-enabled smart speakers to ask the voice assistant for the ESG score of any company in Refinitiv’s database, in addition to audio content from their analysis and ESG podcast, Sustainability Perspectives. Instructions for enabling Alexa and Google Assistant are provided.
