Supply & Demand Chain Executive reports on findings from Consero Group’s Fall 2013 Procurement & Strategic Sourcing Data Survey. The survey was given to Fortune 1000 CPOs, with a total of 42 responding. Benchmarking data and insights are covered in these areas: 1) departmental staff size and budget, 2) access to corporate leadership, 3) corporate strategy, 4) ethics, social responsibility, and sustainability. Key findings (directly quoted) include:
- 37 percent say they focus more on collaborative relationships than cost
- 57 percent said that their companies do not spend sufficient time exploring new sourcing strategies
- 95 percent stated that their companies purchase goods and services from outside the U.S
- Only 5 percent said that foreign suppliers have an advantage over U.S. suppliers
- Just 38 percent of those surveyed who purchase goods and services outside the U.S. believe that foreign governments provide sufficient protection to U.S. purchasers
