Is the Contract Manager Role in Decline?

Tim Cummins, CEO of the International Association for Contract & Commercial Management (IACCM), raises his concern about the declining role of contract managers (even though recent interviews with Global 250 corporations indicate there is growing importance of this discipline). What is happening? On his blog, he writes that one trend is that “companies from emerging markets are investing heavily in technologies that support more automated approaches and also ensure portfolio analysis as methods to oversee and ensure commitment management and performance.” Another trend is that the project management community is demonstrating stronger leadership in handling contract issues.
