S&P Global/IHS Markit Integration Launch of Supply Chain Console is Worth Noting

S&P Global and IHS Markit completed their merger in February 2022. At the time of the closure of the merger:

  • IHS Markit Financial Services and S&P Global Market Intelligence were combined to form S&P Global Market Intelligence.
  • IHS Markit Energy & Natural Resources and S&P Global Platts were combined to form S&P Global Commodity Insights.
  • IHS Market Indices and S&P Dow Jones Indices were combined and will continue to be called S&P Dow Jones Indices.
  • IHS Markit Automotive Solutions will now be called S&P Global Mobility.
  • S&P Global Ratings will remain a standalone division.

Since then, there have been a number of new product launches and enhancement announcements, such as the integration and launch of a new unified platform, called Platts Connect, which integrates Platts and IHS Connect and offers access to a comprehensive range of products, benchmarks, data and insights for energy and commodities markets. S&P Global is currently developing intelligent search and other AI-powered functionality and is testing within Marketplace and Platts Connect. Development of ChatIQ, a generative AI product developed jointly between Kensho (AI Innovation Hub for S&P Global), and the Market Intelligence team is continuing (Q3 2023 earnings call transcript).
